RemoveWhitespaceFromAddRemovePrograms - This is a small utility that cleans up the registry in those cases where huge gaps of whitespace is displayed in the add/remove programs control panel applet. The gap is caused by a badly formatted "DisplayedIcon" entry in the uninstall area of the registry or a bad icon file. We read about the cause in Raymond Chen's blog and decided to write this tool that cleans up the registry entries. You can download, use and distribute it for free.

Did not work
I use XP Home and the program did not remove the white space. It said it found 3 corupt programs which I let it fix and then could find no others but the very large space remains. I searched the registry and removed all DisplayIcon negative numbers (Only found 1 and it was a -0)still no change.

This program didn't work for me, however I did remove the whitespace manually via the registry by finding the negative values.I have saved the program to try on other machines with the same problem if I ever see the problem again. It didn't hurt to try it and I'm sure it works for some.

Did not work
I downloaded the program and ran it(WIN98SE)and there were a total of 6 icon resource problems. I checked all 6 and did the cleanup. The "Add/Remove Programs Property" list still had 13 white space entries. I rebooted and there was no change so I clicked the white spcaces and removed all the entries which stated that the program had already been removed and asked if I wanted to remove the associted program entry from the "Add/Remove Programs Properties" list. A few entries were valid and I left them alone. I now have 2 "white space" areas on top of the list instead of 13. I would have loved the program had it worked. No offence to your program or all the work you put into it. I'm just relating my experience with this application.......Thanks, Pat

It worked!
I had a large gap in the list of installed apps and had tried other registry hacks etc., with little success. This utility was easy to use and corrected the problem completely.

Absolutely Awesome!!!
32KB means it downloaded in the time it took to close the window and as an added bonus it wasn't zipped, so in 4 clicks (2 to launch, 1 to click yes and 1 to close the program) my annoyance was fixed! All the white space (we're talking years worth, a 100 lines or more) gone! I am so happy! That was the most painless and effective fix I've used in a long time.
p.s. I'm using winxp pro. I love this little program!

Although not a major problem, having to scroll down so far when trying to remove programs from the add/remove programs window is a little annoying to say the least. After enduring this problem for quite some time I finally found a solution. This program worked as described and took out all the white space from the add/remove programs window.

Did not change problem.
Download and use was easy. After running the program the problem persists. More research indicated the possibility of other issues in the "uninstall" registry entries. Finding the other "problems" eats a lot of time. I "love m$crosoft".

Tried the app and it found one bad entry and let the app fix it.
Don't really know what that did.
Using Win 98 SE and still have to scroll through white space on my Add/Remove list.
So far no fix but no apparent new problems.

Downloaded the software. One hour later the problem was solved. Use AutoCAD and it seems to be the problem with the whitespace on Windows XP Professional. Software corrected the problem, I am very happy!

Didn`t work :(
Downloaded and tried the program a couple of times. It removed some bad entries in the registry but the white space is still there! Tried going through the icon entries manually and removed one -0 value. Still no luck! Seems to have worked for others but no for me :( (i'm running windows XP Home edition SP2)

The white spot was removed as soon as I executed the program. I am an Autocad user & I was shocked not to find Autocad in the AddRemove window to Uninstall the program. I was able to do the task I wanted & some of the other programs showed up too.

Iвґm running xp home sp2, totally uptdated. I run the program and nothing happenned; the blank lines, black lines e striped lines are still there. May be I have done something wrong, but what? I still thanks the effort of the team.

Why Whitespace Remover would not work
I downloaded the RemoveWhitespace program for a friend on his Notebook PC. It would not initiate on start-up when trying to use it. I did some checking and found that the installed Windos XP Pro did not have the Microsoft<.Net Framework> installed cuasing the program to fail at initiating. After downloading and installing the Microsoft update, the program worked perfectly.

The large number of blank spaces in my Add or Remove Programs list has been bugging me for over a year. I have tried a couple of methods to solve the problem including editing the Registry. Nice software.
This software solved my problem in 5 sec and I was trying already for some time to get rid of those empty spaces in add remove programs.
Getting rip of those spaces can be done manually in the registry but it take so long.

I did have to copy the application to my hard disc, but after doing so it got rid of the big empty gap that I was tired of looking at and scrolling through. The "Little" things in life really are worthwhile. Thanks for the help.

White Space is gone now.
I had the huge white space in the uninstall listing of programs. After using this great program the white space was removed. It did exactly what it said it would do. So far I have not seen any problems resulting from using this utility. I did have AutoCAD 2002 installed which is a known contributor to this white space problem.

My Add and Remove actually has black space, not white and maybe that's the reason it didn't work. But it did some clean up which was needed, so I'm happy.

Unfortunately, the white space and large barcode black spaces were not removed but my taskbar was. I finally restored my taskbar but I still have the whitespace problem in the add/remove program.
